RMM August 21: “Recycle Into Art” with Suzette Morrow & Jennifer Star
Using #6 recycled clear plastic (begin collecting now: to-go containers, produce containers, cracker and cookie trays, etc.), Suzette will show us how to cut and decorate the plastic to make ornaments and various objects (think Shrinky-Dink!). Using recycled papers (magazines, catalogs, gift wrap, doodled-on paper, etc.) Jennifer will guide us in how to make beautiful and interesting beads that can be made into beautiful jewelry or decor for projects that utilize beads.
In addition to the plastic and paper Recycle Into Art portion, we are also going to begin building a Creativity Club Scarecrow that will be part of the Cambria Historical Society's Scarecrow and Harvest Festival on October 9th. We are going to create our scarecrow entirely from recycled products, getting creative in how we construct it with the materials brought in by those who wish to participate. Begin collecting items that you think could be part of the structure and decoration of our scarecrow. Think outside the box - ANYTHING you have and use in your home that you would normally throw away or put in the recycle bin, or donate to a thrift store or yard sale is potential material. And we want it to be obvious that the scarecrow is made from recycled material, so leaving labels on containers, etc., is desirable. Let's have some FUN with this project!!! We would appreciate hearing from you if you are going to participate.

Special Event October 2: “Scarecrow Making - Final Workshop”
11:00 am - 3:00 pm. $10 (covers art supplies, instruction, and use of the Joslyn Center)

Guest Teacher December 4: “Crazy Wisdom” with Tobey Crockett, PhD
11:00 am to 3:00 pm. $20 ($15 for CC members)
Drawing on her teacher training in Baby Clown Tobey will offer an introductory class in Crazy Wisdom. This is a spiritually inflected class with lots of group interaction, so be prepared to open your heart chakra wider than usual! In addition to stretching from both the inside and out, movement, play, visualization and writing from the body will be our focus. Some historical and philosophical context for the pursuit of "Crazy Wisdom" will be offered as well. This class is especially good for actors, speakers, kachinas and anyone looking to boost their confidence or amp their presentation skills, whether for personal or career purposes. Minimum class size 6 people - maximum 12. Please sign up asap! We will have a substantial break or two, so bring a bag lunch and a cozy blanket for a light nap.
6:00 pm. Tickets: $8 pre-sale, $10 at the door
